Khunying Patama Leeswadtrakul was elected unopposed as president of the International Badminton Federation Saturday (BWF). The vote took place in Xiamen, China, at the 86th Annual General Meeting of the BWF. President of the Thai Federation since 2013, she also sits on the executive board of the National Olympic Committee of Thailand. Leeswadtrakul succeeds Poul-Erik Høyer, who had been in office for 12 years. She is the second woman to take over the presidency of the FI after the Chinese Lu Shengrong (1993-2001).
