After China, Germany. Barring any surprises, or last minute renunciation, the city of Karlsruhe will win the organization of the World Games in 2029. The German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB) has designated it to embark on the adventure. Good news: it is the only one in the running. Karlsruhe was preferred to Hanover, which had also expressed interest in the 13th edition of the multi-sport event in 2029. Karlsruhe is the first city in history to apply after having already hosted the World Games, in 1989. The decision will be made by the executive committee of the International World Games Association (IWGA). It will then be ratified by the general assembly of the body, scheduled for May. The next edition of the World Games will take place from August 7 to 17, 2025 in Chengdu, China.
