No bad surprises in store for José Perurena. The Spanish leader, former president of the International Canoe-Kayak Federation (ICF), will be re-elected without fear this Wednesday, May 3, as president of the International World Games Association (IWGA). He is the only candidate for the top position. The election is planned during the annual general assembly of the body, organized in Madrid (Spain). José Perurena has led the IWGA since 2014. But his third consecutive mandate will be the shortest of the trio, since it was reduced to only three years, the last having been extended by a year due to the health crisis. On the other hand, nothing is decided for the position of vice-president. Two candidates will compete to succeed the Briton, Max Bishop, from the International Aeronautical Federation who has decided not to seek a new mandate: the Swiss Tom Dielen, current secretary general of the International Archery Federation (World Archery), and the German Jörn Verleger, president of the International Fistball Federation. The last World Games took place last year in Birmingham, Alabama. The next edition is planned for 2025 in Chengdu, China.
