John Coates makes no secret of it: he firmly believes in Queensland's chances of winning the organization of the Summer Games in 2032. The Australian leader is ready to do anything to support the Olympic project. He proved it by going to meet the most fervent opponent of the candidacy, Pauline Hanson, the leader of the populist One Nation party (photo above). Accompanied by Jock O’Callaghan, president of the Australian Paralympic Committee, John Coates spoke for more than an hour with Pauline Hanson in Brisbane. He patiently explained the advantages of the New IOC Standard, which is supposed to drastically reduce the costs of the Games. But it seems that her speech did not convince the political leader. Upon leaving the meeting, Pauline Hanson declared to the daily The Australian : " I told them, “This is about the future of our economy. Central and north Queenslanders are fed up with people in the southeast part of the state getting all the public funds"
