John Coates likes transparency. The Australian leader, member of the IOC and president of the Australian Olympic Committee (AOC), himself announced this Friday, April 3, via an email sent to certain media, his decision to reduce his income. He explains that he is waiving 20% of the amount of his consulting service for the Australian Olympic Committee, from April 1, for the rest of 2020. A decision that he justifies by the effects of the coronavirus epidemic on the economy in Australia, particularly on AOC revenues. More surprising: John Coates attached to his press release the letter sent the previous evening to Matt Carroll, the general director of the AOC, where he informed him of his decision to reduce his emoluments. The letter in question specifies the amount of the consulting service received by John Coates. It was to amount to 594.500 Australian dollars for the year 2020 (332.000 euros at the current rate). It will ultimately amount to 475.600 dollars (266.000 euros). Anything but volunteering.
