The 46th General Assembly of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) will take place on 26th January 2026The executive board of the body announced that a presidential election will be organized on this occasion due to the health of the current president, Raja Randhir Singh, aged 78. The elected official will lead the OCA until 2028, the end of Singh's term, who was elected in September 2024. Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani, President of the Qatar Olympic Committee, has already announced that he will run.

His candidacy is based on " an ambitious strategic vision for Asian sport, based on five fundamental pillars: solidarity, digital transformation, sustainable development, credibility and economic and financial resilience ", specifies the press release from the Qatari NOC. Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani also outlined some key themes in his eyes, including the strengthening collaboration between NOCs, the improvement of sports infrastructure and the creation of largest platforms for youth and women « so that they can take part in shaping the future of sport in Asia ».
