Jean-Christophe Rolland towards a new mandate

Rowing

Jean-Christophe Rolland, president of the International Rowing Federation (World Rowing), is a candidate for his own succession. The French leader announced it to FrancsJeux, this Thursday, August 5, one day before the deadline for submitting applications, set for Friday, August 6 at midnight. To date, he is the only candidate for the position of president. Unless there is a very improbable last minute announcement, it should remain so. The election will take place during a congress of the body organized on November 6, 2021 in virtual mode. Olympic champion in pairs at the Sydney 2000 Games, who became a member of the IOC during the Lima session in 2017, Jean-Christophe Rolland was elected for the first time at the head of world rowing in 2013. He was ahead of the Canadian Tricia Smith and the Australian John Boultbee. Four years later, he was re-elected for a second term, but this time unopposed.
