Yelena Isinbayeva went to Lausanne on Tuesday July 19 to be heard before the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in the context of the appeal filed by 68 Russian athletes against the IAAF decision to suspend their federation. The pole vault world record holder defended the cause of her peers. A hearing from which she emerged declaring herself “optimistic” about the CAS decision, expected no later than Thursday July 21. Note the presence in the audience, during the hearings, of IAAF President Sebastian Coe.
