Africa is on the rise. The president of the International Judo Federation (IJF), Marius Vizer, and Didier Budimbu Ntubwanga, Minister of Sports and Recreation of the Dem. Rep. of Congosigned an agreement confirming that Kinshasa will host the World Judo Continental Team Championships for Peace in 2026. Anything but anecdotal, since this will be the first world championship organized on the continent since 2005, when it was held in Cairo.

Didier Budimbu Ntubwanga, for his part, emphasized the opportunity to put " showcasing our hospitality, our culture and our passion for sport ", but also " to inspire our youth and to demonstrate that Africa is capable of hosting world-class sporting events at the highest level ».
