In an exceptional situation, an unprecedented measure. The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) took advantage of World Day of Persons with Disabilities, Thursday, December 3, to announce its decision to distribute a grant of 1,8 million euros ($2,2 million) among its approximately 200 organizations members. A special fund intended to help the Paralympic movement, around the world, to offset the economic effects of the coronavirus pandemic. This grant, the largest ever allocated by the IPC, will be distributed by next February, to help athletes prepare for the Tokyo Paralympic Games, but also to develop training and practice of disabled sports. “ This is the largest one-off investment the IPC has ever made in its members, when they need it most.", explained the president of the international body, the Brazilian Andrew Parsons, in a press release. This financial support will be granted to national Paralympic committees and international federations. They must submit a grant application no later than December 30, 2020.
