There is at least as much going on behind the scenes as in the meeting rooms in Washington, where the General Assembly of the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) is currently being held. As proof, the signing, on the sidelines of the official meetings, of a partnership agreement described as historic between the Australian and Cuban Olympic committees. Signed by John Coates, the president of the Australian Olympic Committee, and Ruperto Herrera Tabio, the Secretary General of the Cuban Olympic Committee, it provides for an exchange of skills, know-how and information between the two countries, particularly in terms of training. athletes and executives, medicine and scientific research.
