The good COIB accounts

Belgium

The Belgian Olympic and Interfederal Committee can look to the future with serenity. Its president, Pierre-Olivier Beckers, was unanimously re-elected last week for a fourth and final term. Other good news is that its accounts are in excellent health. The year 2016 ended in accounting terms with a net profit of 1,9 million euros, compared to just over 800.000 euros a year earlier. Philippe Vander Putten, the executive director of the COIB, explained during the elective general assembly: “An Olympic year is very expensive, especially when the Games take place far from Belgium. We had therefore set aside significant sums to deal with this. » Nevertheless, the committee's income reached 11 million euros last year, compared to 8,3 million for the 2015 financial year. Philippe Vander Putten explains: “The 2020 Games in Tokyo are going to cost us a lot again, so we are going to make provisions. But we also invest in the high level. This year, our preparation budget is higher than that of 2016 and, for the first time, we have had an internship for the Winter Games. » Two new private partners, Toyota and ADMB, recently joined the COIB. They are in addition to the four main sponsors: Delhaize, EY, Belfius and AG.
