Generous ATP

Tennis

The ATP has done its sums: the year 2024 saw it distribute the total sum of $1,3 million to 26 professional players as part of its new financial guarantee program. Launched at the beginning of the year as an experiment, the Baseline program provides a minimum income to the least well-off players ranked in the world's top 250 in singles. In detail, 17 players were financially supported by the ATP as part of the minimum guarantee plan, three received aid after being absent from the professional circuit due to injury, another combined both formulas. Finally, a handful of newcomers to the ATP circuit received financial aid as part of the investment plan for players who have entered the top 125 for the first time in their career. Encouraged by this first experience, the association of professional tennis players decided to extend the trial in 2025, but by increasing its aid. The guaranteed minimum will increase to $200.000 (from $150.000 this year) for singles players ranked 101st to 175th, and to $100.000 (from $75.000) for those ranked 176th to 250th. The amount for members of the world's top 100 - $300.000 - will remain unchanged.
