With less than a year to go before the event, the signals are green for the 2023 Alpine Ski World Championships in Méribel and Courchevel (France). The organizers took advantage of the World Cup finals, played from March 16 to 20 in the two Savoyard resorts, to offer themselves a dress rehearsal. It was marked by the presence, during the five days of competition, of 25.000 spectators in the stands or on the sides of the tracks. The flagship facility of the 2023 Worlds, the L’Éclipse track in Courchevel, planned for all of the men’s events, was used for the first time in competition. It surprised skiers with its singularity with alternating light and shadow, but it seems to have seduced with its lines. Comment from Swiss Beat Feuz, the Olympic downhill champion: “The track is very beautiful. There are some big jumps on the top and some nice terrain moves.” On the women's side, the skiers were able to discover the Roc de Fer slope in Méribel, which had not been skied in international competition since 2015. The World Cup finals also constituted a test for the technical teams, in the perspective of the broadcast of the 2023 Worlds. On L'Éclipse in Courchevel, 25 cameras were placed along the track. There will be 48 next year. Finally, more than 700 volunteers were mobilized for the finals in Courchevel and Méribel. There will be around 1200 at the world championships in 2023.
