Froome supports Cookson

UCI

Strong support for Brian Cookson. Chris Froome, the last winner of the Tour de France, stands behind the new UCI president in his desire to rid cycling of its doping culture and bring the sport into a new era. “It's very important for us and we hope that it's something that a new UCI president can help us achieve, namely to go beyond this old image (…) and show that this sport has turned the page since those dark years,” said the British leader of Team Sky on the sidelines of the Saitama Criterium in Japan. “It is now up to us to show that we have turned the page,” Froome added, saying he “understands the origins of the anger and frustrations” of the public and the media.
