Four candidates for a presidential seat

Russia

There will ultimately be four candidates to present themselves to voters on Friday February 28 in Moscow, during the elections for the presidency of the Russian Athletics Federation (RusAF). The organization's website lists them: Yevgeniy Yurchenko, board member of the United Aircraft Corporation; Mikhail Gusev, an athletes agent; Yuriy Borzakovskiy, Olympic 800m champion at the Athens Games in 2004, current head coach of the national team (photo above); and finally Oleg Kurbatov, president of the Moscow Athletics Federation. Former sprinter Andrey Shlyapnikov, ex-member of the RusAF presidium, long cited among the candidates, no longer appears on the list. The future president of RusAF will therefore be one of them. But Mariya Lasitskene, the three-time high jump world champion, does not seem convinced by the casting of the election. “ Only 10 days before the election, none of these candidates offers a solution and a program to get us out of the crisis, she explained to the agency TASS. I don't want to offend them, but at the moment I don't think that any of them can ensure the return of Russian athletes to the international scene and the end of the suspension of RusAF. »
