For Prince Feisal, "Paris 2024 has demonstrated what the Olympic Games should be"

IOC

Prince Feisal of Jordan aims to become the first president in the history of the IOC to come from the Middle East. He presented his project on Tuesday, March 4, to the French-speaking press during a specific exchange. The man who has just been re-elected at the head of the Jordanian Olympic Committee took the opportunity to cite the Paris 2024 Games as an example to follow, at all levels. “These Games have set a new benchmark. Paris demonstrated what the modern Olympics should be : inclusive, innovative and impactful. From the opening ceremony, which left the stadium and moved to the Seine, to the Marathon for All, which allowed amateur runners to share the Olympic stage, these Games placed the public at the heart of the experience »he insists.

"What struck me most was France's decision to introduce 30 minutes of daily physical activity in schools as a direct legacy of the Olympic Games. This is precisely the kind of policy that the IOC should champion globally. If elected, I will ensure that the Olympic Movement brings lasting benefits not only to host cities, but also to communities around the world", the candidate said. He also noted that the UK had lost 7.000 physical education teachers since 2012, the year of the London Games, and that the budget dedicated to sport has been significantly reduced in France for 2025. Nothing is therefore a given. "How to convince world leaders that sport is not a luxury, but a necessity ?The next IOC President must be more than just a guardian of the Games; he must be a diplomat and an advocate for sport's place on the world stage", he explains.
