The English Football Association (FA) is searching for the living descendants of the eight men who helped establish the world's most popular sport. The campaign is dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the organization.
“Football is an integral part of our society and without the vision of these eight men 150 years ago, our sport may never have seen the light of day. There is nothing more fitting than paying homage to the founding fathers of this nation’s favorite game,” said national team contractor Roy Hodgson. The work of these men to establish the first laws of the game took place on October 26, 1863 at Freemasons’ Tavern in London and was instrumental in the establishment of the sport.
The Founding Fathers in question are: Ebenezer Cobb Morley (1831-1924), Arthur Pember (1835-1886), Charles William Alcock (1842-1907), Francis Maule Campbell (1843-1920), John Forster Alcock (1841-1910) , Herbert Thomas Steward (1839-1915), George Twizell Wawn (1840-1914) and James Turner.
