Five cases but four sports

Doping

Their names have not been released, but we know a little more about the five doping cases identified by the International Testing Agency (ITA) at the Paris 2024 Games. Two of them concern judo, one was recorded in athletics, another in swimming, and finally the last one was noted in boxing. The five athletes suspected of doping are from, respectively, Afghanistan, Bolivia, Congo, Iraq and Nigeria. None of them won a medal. The substances in question were anabolic steroids in four of the five cases, a diuretic in the fifth. Under the rules, the athletes concerned were excluded before the start of their event, or had their results annulled. The cases have been forwarded to the anti-doping division of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) and/or to their respective federations, for a final decision expected in the coming weeks.
