The Athletics Federation is still suspended by the IAAF, but Vitaliy Mutko, the Russian Minister of Sports, anticipates a strong participation of his country in the Rio Games. “We are preparing a delegation of 60 to 70 athletes,” he explained, specifying that the potential Olympic athletes selected in athletics were preparing intensely. The Minister of Sports also specified that the Russian anti-doping agency (Rusada) was currently working very closely with WADA and the British anti-doping agency, with the aim of very quickly recovering its status and approval.
