FIBA insists in the Philippines

Basketball

The International Basketball Federation (FIBA) continues to make inroads in Asia. It has announced that it has awarded the eFIBA 2024 World Finals, its electronic basketball tournament, to the Philippines, which hosted the Men's World Cup last year with Indonesia and Japan. The finals will take place on December 11 and 12 at the SMX Convention Center in the city of Clark, a few hours from the capital Manila. The tournament will be played on PlayStation 5, with the brand new NBA 2K25. It will feature the champion teams from Africa, Asia, Europe, the Middle East, North and South America and Oceania, as well as the vice-champion team from Europe, a total of around forty players. At stake is the title of eFIBA World Champion and a prize pool of $50.000. The format of the competition sees the eight teams compete in two groups, with the top two from each group advancing to the semi-finals. The world title is held by the United States, winners of last year's eFIBA Finals in Sweden.
