The federations call for help from the State

United States

Extraordinary circumstances require exceptional measures. According to Associated Press, nearly 3/4 of the American Olympic sports federations, summer and winter, have requested state aid to overcome the economic effects of the health crisis. AP surveyed the 44 Olympic sports federations in the United States. Thirty-six of them responded. Among them, 32 admitted to having requested support from public authorities, mainly in the form of a loan. The amount of aid received or to be received would exceed the sum of 12 million dollars. The US Ski and Snowboard Federation received a $2,5 million loan. At the other end of the scale, the badminton federation will be able to count on aid of 75.000 dollars.
