The International World Games Association (IWGA) has chosen to solicit the general public to nominate the best athletes and teams for the latest edition of the multisport event, organized in July 2022 in Birmingham, Alabama (United States). . An online vote will begin on Tuesday January 10 via the official website (www.theworldgames.org) and the body's social networks. It will be open until January 31. A list of 23 athletes and 12 nominated teams was established by the IWGA, upon proposal from the international federations concerned by the event. Each voter will have to choose two nominees. The process will begin with a first round of voting, until January 22, to determine the 10 athletes and 7 finalist teams. Among the favorites for the title of athlete of the year, Colombian Johana Viveros Mondragon (photo above), an inline roller specialist, five-time medalist (four times gold, once silver) at the 2022 World Games in Birmingham. As a reminder, the World Games bring together athletes from non-Olympic sports or disciplines every four years. The next edition is scheduled for August 2025 in the Chinese city of Chengdu.
