More than a year after the competition, Swiss Fanny Smith received her bronze medal from the Beijing 18 Winter Games on Tuesday April 2022 in Lausanne (photo above). It was presented to him during a ceremony organized at the Olympic Museum by the IOC and the Swiss Olympic Committee (Swiss Olympic). Thomas Bach himself presented him with his medal, fourteen months after the skicross final of the last Winter Games. Initially third in the event, the Vaudoise was demoted to fourth place, therefore just off the podium, for allegedly hindering the German Daniela Maier. A legal dispute then ensued between the two athletes. It was finally settled by conciliation between all parties, under the supervision of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). The International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) decided to review the ranking and place the two young women in third position, awarding two bronze medals, a decision followed by the IOC. This is Fanny Smith's second Olympic bronze medal, after winning in the same event at the PyeongChang 2018 Games.
