Bad weather at the 2013 European canoe-kayak slalom championships. The competition, scheduled for Thursday to Sunday in Krakow, Poland, is threatened with being cut short. The cause is the torrential rains in Central Europe. “The organizers want to do everything to get out of this, possibly by reducing the program,” said Jens Kahl, the German team’s sporting director. The day before, a coach had indicated that only the top of the course was passable. Furthermore, the floods which also affect the Czech Republic cast doubt on the holding of the World Championships in the same discipline, scheduled for September 11 to 15 in Prague. “The entire course is underwater and we had to transport the equipment from the basement, which is submerged, to the second floor of the main building,” said Jiri Rohan, director of the organizing committee.
