The box is filled. The International Skating Union (ISU) announces that it has found a fallback solution after the withdrawal of the Chinese stage of the next Grand Prix of figure skating. The Cup of China, removed from the calendar due to restrictions linked to COVID-19, will be replaced this year by a competition in England. The MK John Wilson Trophy, organized in Sheffield, will slot into the 2022-23 Grand Prix calendar, in fourth place, between the French Open in Angers and the NHK Trophy in Sapporo. It will take place from November 11 to 13. The ISU explains this in a press release: “ For the first time, a figure skating Grand Prix will take place in Great Britain“. The international body unveiled the new Grand Prix calendar last week, but left an empty box in place of the Cup of China. The table is now complete, with two new events, to replace the traditional stages in China and Russia: the MK John Wilson Trophy in Sheffield, then the Finnish Grand Prix in Espoo (November 25 to 27).
