Eight events for the introduction of climbing at the Paralympic Games

For his Paralympic Games debut, para-climbing will be represented by 80 athletes – 40 men and 40 women – in eight events in Los Angeles. The classifications will ensure " a broad and inclusive representation of athletes ", underlines the International Climbing Federation (IFSC). The disabilities taken into account: visual impairment (category B1 for men, B2 for women), limitation of mobility, power and stability (RP1 for men and women), upper limb impairment (AU2) as well as lower limb impairment (AL2).

« Today is another one big day for the climbing family, welcomes Marco Scolaris, the president of the IFSC. The inclusion of para-climbing in the Paralympic Games, with the gender parity and an inclusive event structure, is the result of years of work by the IFSC team and the incredible resilience of our athletes. » The tests will take place in Long Beach, on the Convention Center website.
