Denver votes for the Games

Winter games

D-Day in Denver. Residents of Colorado's capital are called to the polls this Tuesday, June 4. They must elect a new mayor. But they must also decide on an amendment to the municipal code, Ordinance 302, dedicated to a future Olympic candidacy. The text asks voters whether the municipal code should be amended to require public approval when using public funds for a Games bid. In the race for the Winter Games in 2030, Denver was rejected last December, the American Olympic Committee (USOC) preferring Salt Lake City. The amendment submitted to the vote this Tuesday, June 4, therefore does not concern the Winter Games in 2030, but it would apply in the event of future candidacies.
