At the time when Los Angeles announced its candidacy for the 2024 Games, the American authorities revealed on Tuesday September 1 that they had carried out a vast anti-doping operation, targeting in particular steroid trafficking. The drug control authority, the DEA, carried out 30 parallel investigations in 20 American states. Results: 90 arrests, 16 clandestine steroid laboratories discovered, 636 kilos of raw steroid powder and 8.200 liters of raw steroid injectable liquid seized. According to AFP, the authorities note that many of these laboratories receive their raw materials from China.
