It's done. Three years before the event, the host city contract for the 2027 Pan American Games was officially signed between the city of Lima, Peru, the national Olympic committee and Panam Sports. The document was initialed by Neven Ilic, the president of Panam Sports, and Dina Boluarte, the Peruvian president. With this signing, Panam Sports puts an end to a long period of doubt and uncertainty over the holding of the next Pan American Games. They were initially awarded to Baranquilla, but the Colombian city lost the organization at the start of the year, failing to meet the financial demands of Panam Sports. A new call for applications was launched, at the end of which the continental body ruled in favor of Lima, preferred to its only rival, Asuncion (Paraguay). The capital of Peru previously hosted the multi-sport event in 2019.
