The information is reported by the Daily Mail : Alexander Ceferin, the president of UEFA, plans to modify the statutes of the European football body in order to retain the reins of power until 2031. The British daily explains that the Slovenian leader, elected for the first time in September 2016, re-elected without opposition last April for a new four-year term, has been preparing his case for several months. He raised the idea of changing the statutes during a recent meeting of the executive committee, last week on the sidelines of the Euro 2024 draw in Germany. It could be ratified at the UEFA congress next year in Paris. A two-thirds majority will be necessary to validate the change of statutes. Under current rules, Alexander Ceferin should not be able to run again after his final term, which is due to end in 2027.
