Capralos calls for unity

EOC

A unique destination for the Association of European Olympic Committees (EOC). The continental body held its general assembly last weekend in Skopje, North Macedonia. An annual meeting held without Russia and Belarus. For his first general assembly as president, Spyros Capralos called on the European Olympic movement to demonstrate unity and solidarity in the face of conflicts. “ We must continue to promote the use of sport as a vector of peace and non-discrimination, insisted the Greek leader in his closing speech, delivered in the presence of Thomas Bach. Even when the world is divided, sport can unite. The European Olympic committees will continue to be guided by the Olympic principles and values. We all look forward to the return of all athletes to the competition field, as soon as circumstances allow.“. As expected, the two days of meetings were dominated by the situation in Ukraine. The EOC once again reiterated its support for the Ukrainian Olympic movement, represented in Skopje by Sergey Bubka, the president of the national Olympic committee.
