Cannabis could leave the list of prohibited products

WADA

It was time. The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) announced via a press release on Tuesday September 14 that it wanted to review the inclusion of cannabis on the list of prohibited substances. A new scientific review of cannabis will be carried out next year, with the prospect of excluding it from the list of prohibited products. But the AMA warns: cannabis will remain banned at least until the end of 2022. Meeting at the beginning of the week in Istanbul, the AMA executive committee explained that it had received requests from certain stakeholders in the movement Olympic to reconsider the often debated case of cannabis. WADA's decision comes a few months after the suspension of American sprinter Sha'Carri Richardson (photo above), who tested positive for cannabis during the Olympic selections. Suspended for a month, she was deprived of the Tokyo Games. Following this affair, the president of World Athletics, Sebastian Coe, suggested that the time had undoubtedly come to reconsider the case of cannabis as a doping product. “ Nothing is written in stone. We adapt and reassess occasionally“, declared the British leader.
