The vast operation to clean up world cycling, or at least its past, has begun. The Independent Cycling Reform Commission (CIRC), created in January by the International Cycling Union (UCI) at the initiative of its new president, Brian Cookson, launched a call for witnesses on Tuesday February 11 as part of its investigation on doping in cycling between 1998 and 2013. In principle, the idea can make you shudder. But Dick Marty, the president of the CIRC, is reassuring: “We will treat all witnesses fairly. I therefore encourage any members of the cycling family who may have information that could assist us in the investigation to come forward.”
