Call for candidates

IAAF

The approach is not common. The International Athletics Federation (IAAF) published a press release at the end of last week to launch a call for applications. It concerns the three new positions within the executive council. They will not be the subject of a vote, but of a designation. The Executive Board will be composed, in addition to these three designated members, of the President of the IAAF, Sebastian Coe, the Vice-Presidents and the Director General, Jon Ridgeon, who will not have voting rights. According to the IAAF press release, the Executive Council is responsible for directing affairs, including the development and review of the IAAF Strategic Plan, the adoption and monitoring of the organization's annual plan and budget, the appointment of the general manager and the approval of main agreements, including sponsorship and audiovisual rights. The Executive Council shares governance of the IAAF with the Council. These three designated members will be for a 4-year term, starting at the end of 2019. The call for applications will close on September 13, 2019.
