Less than two weeks before the event, the 2018 edition of SportAccord (April 15 to 20 in Bangkok) has been enriched with a new partner. An announcement which is not anecdotal, since it concerns the city of Budapest. The Hungarian capital joins SportAccord’s marketing program as a “global partner”. A presence at the top of the poster supposed to reflect the sporting ambitions of the city. The vice-mayor of Budapest, Alexandra Szalay-Bobrovniczky, recalled this in a press release: “ Budapest is a new force among the host cities of major sporting events. Ranked 2nd in the sports city index by Sportcal for the period 2017-2023, it organized the swimming and judo world championships last year. Budapest will also be the European Capital of Sport in 2019.«
