Brisbane 2032 recruits at the IOC

Olympics 2032

The transfer window never stops. The Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games Organising Committee has announced the recruitment of Kit McConnell as General Manager of Sports. A return to the sources for the current IOC sports director, who has dual Australian and New Zealand citizenship. "Kit brings an incredible level of experience to a role that requires the constant engagement of stakeholders to ensure that the interests of athletes remain at the centre of every aspect of the planning and delivery of the Games, justifies Brisbane 2032 general manager Cindy Hook. In his new role, Kit will be responsible for the design of our sports program, including the consideration of additional sports. (…) Having worked within the Olympic movement for over twenty years and having been IOC Sports Director for the last eleven years is a considerable advantage for our team and for the athletes who will participate in 2032.”

McConnell will leave the IOC on June 30 and will take up his new duties on July 21. “The fact that Brisbane 2032 has been able to secure the services of the IOC Sports Director is a major coup. The timing of this appointment is very good as the development of the 2032 sports programme is a priority for the next 12 to 18 months », rejoices the president of Brisbane 2032, Andrew Liveris. His new recruit had already worked within the Sydney 2000 Games Organising Committee“I am a proud Queenslander and look forward to returning home after many years overseas, McConnell says. I never thought I would have another chance to play in a home Games. The honour and opportunity are immense."
