Brisbane 2032 starts now

Australia

No time to lose. With eight years to go until Brisbane 2032, Australia is launching its plan to identify future Olympic and Paralympic talent. The campaign is called Future Green and Gold. Led by the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) in Canberra, in collaboration with state institutes and national sporting organisations, the initiative targets young Australians aged 13 to 23 for Olympic sports and 13 and over for Paralympic disciplines. It covers more than 40 sports on the Olympic and Paralympic programme. The identification campaign is aimed at both potential talent with no sporting experience and current athletes who would like to change to another sport. A dedicated website has been launched by the Australian Sporting Authority to register for the programme. Eligible participants will be invited to a trial day, which may be followed by more in-depth trials if successful at the first stage. Successful applicants will be offered a place in one of the talent development programs. As a reminder, Australia took fourth place in the medal standings for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, with 53 medals including 18 gold, and ninth in the Paralympic Games (63 medals, including 18 gold).
