Briançon will open the season

Climbing

It’s official: the Climbing World Cup will begin on August 21 and 22, 2020 in Briançon. The French stage was initially scheduled for July 18 and 19. It was postponed by a month but should be able to meet the new dates. The competition will mark the start of a World Cup season completely reorganized by the International Climbing Federation (IFSC) due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. The circuit should then continue to Salt Lake City (United States) from September 11 to 13, Seoul (South Korea) from October 7 to 11 (dates to be confirmed), Chongqing (China) from October 23 to 25, Wujiang ( China) from October 30 to November 1, and finally Xiamen (China) from December 4 to 6. Clarification: travel restrictions do not a priori allow the participation of all athletes, the different stages of the 2020 World Cup will not distribute the slightest point and will not count for the world ranking. No trophies will be awarded at the end of the year.
