No bad surprises for Alejandro Blanco. The only candidate in the running, he was re-elected on Wednesday May 31 for a fourth consecutive term as president of the Spanish Olympic Committee. At 66 years old, he obtained 167 votes, against only 4 abstentions, during the general assembly of the organization in Madrid. Elected for the first time in 2005, Alejandro Blanco will become, at the end of the current mandate, the president of the Spanish Olympic committee having experienced the longest exercise of power. After the vote, he suggested that Madrid “should not give up on its dreams” of one day hosting the Summer Olympics.
