Birmingham puts SportAccord back on the map

SportAccord

Proof that the international sports movement has regained its full speed: SportAccord is making its return this week (April 7 to 11) in Birmingham, England. The unmissable event for the sports ecosystem had disappeared from the calendar since the 2019 edition in Gold Coast, Australia. In question, the health crisis, then the conflict in Ukraine. The SportAccord World Sport & Business Summit 2024 officially began on Sunday April 7, with a soft opening, before a more massive launch this Monday. The event announces the presence of 1.500 delegates from more than 100 countries. Placed under the theme of “ Power of sport”, the 2024 edition is the first since the election as president of SportAccord of the Turk Ugur Erdener – also a member of the IOC and president of World Archery -, who succeeded at the head of the body from the Italian Ivo Ferriani. It will be notably marked by the election of a new president to the Association of International Summer Olympic Sports Federations (ASOIF). A vote without surprise, the Belgian Ingmar De Vos, president of the International Equestrian Federation (FEI), being the only candidate to succeed another Italian, Francesco Ricci Bitti.
