The Mediterranean Games of Taranto (from August 21 to September 3, 2026) are on track. The coordination commission of the International Committee of the Mediterranean Games (ICMG) has just completed a two-day on-site visit, in the presence of the President of the CIJM, Davide Tizzano, and the Secretary General, Iakovos Filippousis. The commission expressed " his confidence in the work accomplished so far " after having inspected the main infrastructures.
Taranto has just welcomed the 2025 Mediterranean Triathlon Championship, the first official test event of the Mediterranean Games. The ICMG announced its " great satisfaction " at the end of this strategic stage in the preparation of the event. The body also specified thata large-scale volunteer campaign should be launched by the end of the month, and that 5-a-side baseball, flying disc and kickboxing will be included in the program as demonstration sports. Note also that the procedure ofcall for tenders for the two cruise ships that will serve as the Village during the Games is currently underway.
