Baseball lacks support

Olympics 2020

As the decisive presentation before the IOC session approaches, the baseball/softball candidacy lacks support from Major League Baseball (LMB), which brings together the United States and Canada. Currently, the LMB has still not confirmed whether baseball stars across the Atlantic could participate in Olympic events.

The President of the International Baseball Federation said he hoped LMB players would be allowed to participate in at least the semi-finals and finals of the competitions. “We need a lot of support from the LMB. If we pass this problem, we will really have our cards to play. There are many Latin American members of the IOC who support baseball, but the executive committee and the congress are two very distinct entities.”
