Austria removed from the calendar

Climbing

The COVID-19 pandemic continues to wreak havoc on the sport climbing calendar. The international federation (IFSC) announces in a press release that it has been forced to cancel the Austrian stage of the World Cup, initially scheduled for June 23 to 27 in Innsbruck. Sports competitions have been able to resume under certain conditions in Austria, but the very strict rules imposed by the Austrian government on the organization of public events do not ensure the holding of a world-level competition. Furthermore, the IFSC executive committee has decided to postpone the European Championships. They are now scheduled for November 20-29, 2020 in Moscow. They will allocate quotas for the Tokyo Games, where climbing is to make its debut as an additional sport.
