Inflation continues in tennis. The organizers of the Australian Open announced this Wednesday that the prize pool for the first Grand Slam tournament of the year will increase further in 2014 to reach 33 million Australian dollars, or 22,9 million euros. The increase in the allocation from 2014 to 2013 amounts to 3 million Australian dollars (2,1 M EUR) whereas it had increased by 4 million Australian dollars from 2012 to 2013 (2,8 M €). The organizers of the Australian Open also announced that the Margaret Court Arena will be well used for the 2014 edition while construction work on a retractable roof has started but will not be completed.
