The democratic exercise favors ballots written in advance in the international sports movement. A week after the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC), where Fijian Robin Mitchell was elected president without the slightest opposition, another body reappointed its president without having to choose between several candidates. The Spaniard Antonio Espinós (photo above) was re-elected on Tuesday October 25 as head of the International Karate Federation (WKF). In charge since 1998, he was the only candidate for the position. With 94 votes out of the 99 possible, the former karateka returns for a new six-year term. Obviously, the national federations did not blame him for the failure of karate to remain in the Olympic program. An additional sport at the Tokyo 2020 Games, it was not retained for the Paris 2024 Games. But the discipline is on the program for the Dakar Youth Games in 2026, after making its YOG debut in Buenos Aires in 2018 .
