Candidate for the organization of the Alpine Ski World Championships in 2029, the Principality of Andorra is not waiting for the decision of the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS), announced for the beginning of June, to calculate the economic impact of the event. According to his estimates, hosting the Worlds in the Pyrenees could lead to an increase of 1% in GDP, currently between 30 and 35 million euros. The bid committee specifies that this calculation is obtained from a conservative estimate, assessing the presence of 100.000 visitors during the 15 days of competition, on the basis of an expenditure of 300 euros per person. If successful, the world championships in Andorra will be financed with revenues of around 48 million euros from the FIS, from marketing and television rights, ticket sales and merchandising. Andorra is in competition with two other applicants, Narvik in Norway and Val Gardena in Italy.
