Candidate for the organization of the alpine skiing world championships in 2027, the principality of Andorra, in the Pyrenees, wants to accelerate its pace a few months before the decision of the FIS (International Ski Federation). The project leaders are announcing the broadcast at the start of the year of a vast communication campaign dedicated to the candidacy, in Andorra, but also in France, Spain and Portugal. It was presented last November in Barcelona by David Hidalgo, the general director of the Andorra 2027 bid committee. The principality is also due to host the finals of the European Alpine Ski Cup in 2022. In the event of victory, the Worlds in 2027 would be the first edition of the global alpine skiing event organized in the Pyrenees. Andorra is in competition with three other files, all European: Garmisch Partenkirchen (Germany), Crans Montana (Switzerland), and Narvik (Norway). The decision will be announced by the FIS on May 22 in Portugal. The next two editions of the Alpine Ski World Championships will take place in 2023 in Courchevel and Méribel (France), then in 2025 in Saalbach (Austria).
