Rowing did not only set the scene on the Vaires-sur-Marne waters during the Paris 2024 Games. The international federation (World Rowing) and the Japan Sports Council took advantage of the Olympic event to offer the public an indoor rowing experience. It was organized at the Team Japan House, located at the Maison de la Culture du Japon, not far from the Eiffel Tower, and brought together more than 15.000 participants. They could virtually navigate the course of Sea Forest, the site of the Tokyo 2020 Games, thanks to Concept2 rowers and the EXR Rowing application. World Rowing emphasizes in a press release: "This immersive activation helped connect the legacy of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games with the current trend of at-home fitness, enabled by innovative technology. » The international body signed a collaboration agreement with the Japan Sports Council last November. It will be implemented again next month on the occasion of Japan Sports Day in Tokyo, a national event that will this year celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Tokyo 1964 Games.
