There will be seven of them. The AIBA elections committee confirmed this on Thursday November 12: the seven candidates for the presidency of AIBA have all been declared eligible and able to compete for the votes of the national federations. The election scheduled for December 12, 2020, on the first day of the annual congress of the international boxing body, therefore promises to be a serious rat race. With seven candidates, anything can happen, including a transfer of votes from one round to another favorable to an outsider. As a reminder, the AIBA presidency will be contested between these seven men (in order of entry into the race): Suleyman Mikayilov (Azerbaijan), Bienvenido Solano (Dominican Republic), Anas Al Otaiba (United Arab Emirates), Boris Van der Vorst (Netherlands), Umar Kremlev (Russia), Ramie Al-Masri (Germany), and finally Mohamed Moustahsane (Morocco), the current interim president.
